Many people who grew up in the village in the 1960's will no doubt remember the derelict engine house
located
between "Flatty and "Pointy" sand burrows. I made the sketch below when I was a
technical illustration college student and it brings back fond memories of climbing all over the
engine house walls as a youngster. Whilst playing cowboys and indians and wars
the
engine house
took on many roles. At some stage the chimney stack was demolished and nowadays
virtually nothing is visible of the walls.
